You'd think its March!

I don't know about those in other states, but those of us who live in South West Virginia have had some pretty crazy weather recently!
We had a severe thunderstorm today, with heavy rains, and very strong wind. The saturated ground couldn't soak up any more water than it already has, so there was flooding (on a small scale) in some places. I really enjoy storms and rain, and was glad for a little weather excitement. There were tornado warnings as well, but thankfully not for our county. I went outside after the heavy rain has stopped and got some pictures of the water that had formed rivers in our woods and "lakes" on the driveway.
I wondered where all the water from the driveway (which was pouring into the woods to form rivers) was coming from; there had to be a source on higher ground. So I followed all the mini rivers and found our neighbors yard was about 2-3 inches deep water. And since it was higher than our driveway, well- there you go. That was the source:) I found it quite interesting to explore:)
Our drive way, became a lake! (Half of it is lower than other parts of our land.)
Even after the rain had stopped, the wind has continued to blow strong and hard. Maybe it will help dry up some of this excess water;)
The rivers...

That's the neighbors yard!
I guess maybe it was more than 2-3 inches, now that I am looking at it again;)
The "running" driveway;)
And that's part of our front yard.
The storm clouds...drifting away...
And to make it even more weird- it was 61 degrees today, in February- and it's been in the 40's. No wonder there were tornado warnings!
Some of the mess left behind

And I guess that's all the pictures I have:)
Did anyone else get a storm this past week?
Until next time,
Elise

He's Always On Time

Two months have come and gone and I'm working on the third. It's hard to believe my time here in Alabama is almost up...it's gone by faster than I thought it would.  God has taught me a lot during my stay here, but I've been so busy, I haven't had much time to sit down and write a blog post about it. While it would take too long to tell you about everything God has been teaching me, I'll share a recent lesson with you.  When others want to know what, where, when, how and why, it's not always easy to give an answer. I've been thinking a lot about what else God has for me to do. I was pretty anxious about it last week. It made for a restless few days and nights.  But later in the week, I was reading through some "old" journal entries, from earlier in my stay here in AL, and I had been praying for and encouraging some friends, to trust the Lord because we don't have to have the answers. If we had the answers we would not need to trust. As I wa...

SURPRISE!

I was so excited to see some dear, dear friends of ours at my graduation party. They came down from Delaware to surprise Olivia and I, but sadly, I was not as surprised as Olivia was. I had seen a message  go through on the iPad to our friend that contained a link for the local hotel. And being the person I am, I put things together right away... They were probably coming for my party as a surprise. Bummer, I had ruined my surprise! I also took note of the fact that they never answered yes or no to the evite we sent out through email, and of the fact that when they sent me a card, it did not say, " wish we could be there with you", but "we will be thinking of you" or something of that sort. I was not 100% sure they were coming, but I was 90% sure😉 but thankfully I had forgotten about all this, since it had occurred about two weeks prior to the party. Note: I am known for accidentally ruining my own surprises. I don't mean to, I just hear something, or see somet...

December craziness:)

Well, folks, I don't know if anyone ever reads my blog, but if you do- I guess you have realized that I haven't blogged in a while:)  I don't have as much spare time as did at one time, but that doesn't mean I enjoy blogging any less. Life marches on and it seems the older you get, the faster it marches. {Do I have any Amens?} If you have an instagram account and follow me, you will probably know some of what has been keeping me busy, but for those of you who don't, I will give a little update:)  December was full of chicken processing, caroling, Christmas concerts for my sisters and I, prayer meeting, travels to DE and PA to visit family for Christmas, a Christmas party for the young people and adults at church, finishing my work with the contracting business, teaching piano as well as our annual Christmas service. We kicked off the New Year by having some friends over and making eight homemade pizzas, (yes, I was in charge of getting them all made, and I loved...
