My Adventures on Our Girls Date in Quaint Rocky Mount

How happy I was to receive an email from my friend Amanda, asking if I would be available to spend a couple hours the next day with her while she was in town. (She lives a ways from our little town and makes a big trip when she comes.)
And with her son Levi spending the day with Grandpa, and little baby Opal with Grandma, we girls had a lovely girls date:)

I was glad to have Sadie take our picture since Amanda is always behind the camera;)
Rocky Mount is a quaint old town with lots of history behind it. We enjoyed looking at the old buildings.
And we stopped by a little shop in town called "The Daily Grind" and got some sandwiches and soup for lunch, Which were quite delicious!
And of course we stopped to get our picture on the unique benches outside the shop:)
And Amanda wanted one of me by myself on the bench:)
We walked around the historic court house too:) interesting fact- in the 11 years I've been living here- I had never walked around the court house in town!
Love these girls!
L. To R. Sadie, me and Ava:)
Amanda and I spent time talking and catching up in the library while the girls looked at books. And on the way home, we stopped to pick up Opal and spent a little more time talking and picking the old banjo.
It was a day that I will treasure for a long time to come.
Thank you for making time in your day to spend some time with me Amanda! It was a lovely day and I'm so blessed to have you for a friend! I always look forward to time spent with these girls too;)
When I get my car, I'm coming down to spend more time with y'all, Lord willing!
I haven't had such a splendid day in a long time!
Until next time,
Elise

How quickly my focus shifts to others...(not what you may think)

While at work today, I was a little bored, and I wanted to read. I always bring my Bible in my bag I take to work, so I figured I would read that:) I decided to read the proverb of the day (proverbs 9). Proverbs 9 talks about wisdom and foolishness. It speaks of how you will only hurt yourself by rebuking a scoffer. But if you instruct a wise man, he will love you. As I thought about that- the thought came to mind that I knew a few people who should read that passage. But the Lord quickly showed me my own heart attitude. Woe is me that I should think that so quickly! How do I respond when others point out foolishness in my own life? Or do others not point it out because I have shown myself to be prideful and arrogant? Always thinking I am right... My first thought should not concern those who I think need it- but just focused one person, and that's me. None of us are as wise as we should or could be. We are all prideful at times, and that was a good reminder to me!  That was a hear...

He's Always On Time

Two months have come and gone and I'm working on the third. It's hard to believe my time here in Alabama is almost up...it's gone by faster than I thought it would.  God has taught me a lot during my stay here, but I've been so busy, I haven't had much time to sit down and write a blog post about it. While it would take too long to tell you about everything God has been teaching me, I'll share a recent lesson with you.  When others want to know what, where, when, how and why, it's not always easy to give an answer. I've been thinking a lot about what else God has for me to do. I was pretty anxious about it last week. It made for a restless few days and nights.  But later in the week, I was reading through some "old" journal entries, from earlier in my stay here in AL, and I had been praying for and encouraging some friends, to trust the Lord because we don't have to have the answers. If we had the answers we would not need to trust. As I wa...

December craziness:)

Well, folks, I don't know if anyone ever reads my blog, but if you do- I guess you have realized that I haven't blogged in a while:)  I don't have as much spare time as did at one time, but that doesn't mean I enjoy blogging any less. Life marches on and it seems the older you get, the faster it marches. {Do I have any Amens?} If you have an instagram account and follow me, you will probably know some of what has been keeping me busy, but for those of you who don't, I will give a little update:)  December was full of chicken processing, caroling, Christmas concerts for my sisters and I, prayer meeting, travels to DE and PA to visit family for Christmas, a Christmas party for the young people and adults at church, finishing my work with the contracting business, teaching piano as well as our annual Christmas service. We kicked off the New Year by having some friends over and making eight homemade pizzas, (yes, I was in charge of getting them all made, and I loved...
