You'd think its March!

I don't know about those in other states, but those of us who live in South West Virginia have had some pretty crazy weather recently!
We had a severe thunderstorm today, with heavy rains, and very strong wind. The saturated ground couldn't soak up any more water than it already has, so there was flooding (on a small scale) in some places. I really enjoy storms and rain, and was glad for a little weather excitement. There were tornado warnings as well, but thankfully not for our county. I went outside after the heavy rain has stopped and got some pictures of the water that had formed rivers in our woods and "lakes" on the driveway.
I wondered where all the water from the driveway (which was pouring into the woods to form rivers) was coming from; there had to be a source on higher ground. So I followed all the mini rivers and found our neighbors yard was about 2-3 inches deep water. And since it was higher than our driveway, well- there you go. That was the source:) I found it quite interesting to explore:)
Our drive way, became a lake! (Half of it is lower than other parts of our land.)
Even after the rain had stopped, the wind has continued to blow strong and hard. Maybe it will help dry up some of this excess water;)
The rivers...

That's the neighbors yard!
I guess maybe it was more than 2-3 inches, now that I am looking at it again;)
The "running" driveway;)
And that's part of our front yard.
The storm clouds...drifting away...
And to make it even more weird- it was 61 degrees today, in February- and it's been in the 40's. No wonder there were tornado warnings!
Some of the mess left behind

And I guess that's all the pictures I have:)
Did anyone else get a storm this past week?
Until next time,
Elise

Passing unnoticed

Sometimes it seems like life moves very slowly, and other times it seems that it moves very quickly. It seems that the opposite of what I want, happens. If I wish for it to move slowly, it moves quickly, and if I wish it would move quickly, it moves slowly. Nevertheless, the past 5 months have come and gone like a flash. I can hardly believe January is almost over. I realize that there may be very few people who read my blog; perhaps a lot of that has to do with how infrequently I write. ;) But I was thinking about what I might blog about and looking through pictures... I guess it is really the little things that make up a beautiful life. It's the little things everyday that make fond memories. I tend to be so task oriented that I forget to stop and notice the dew drops on the flower, the frost patterns on the window, the unique sunrise... the smiles which are flashed at me every day. And then- suddenly these precious times are gone. It's a new stage of life, the things w...

Reflections

Reflections are very interesting...they help you see the objects and scenery around you in a new way. I took some neat reflection shots today, and thought I would share them:) A smiling face in a tea cup:) Yes, I know, the computer screen is pretty dirty;) And while we are on the subject of reflections...I thought I would "reflect" on January so you get a little update on what I have been doing:) Since I was working in the general contracting world for several months, I learned some useful skills, and have recently been putting them to good use here in my home. We built our home many years ago, but moved in before the interior was finished. Doors needed to be put up, base trim, door trim, and painting all needed to be done. So now that I have those skills, and some time, I have taken on the job of finishing the inside of our house:) When I get a chance, I will take some pictures of projects I finish and post them for you. Besides that, I am still te...

Reminders

When I stop to look at the beauty all around, I am amazed that God loves me as much as He does! His creation is so much prettier than I am... It does not sin!  But God wants a relationship with me and because He wants that, He sent His Son to die- for me. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them:) Let us not forget why we are here.  Until next time,  Elise
