Our hike to Tinker Cliffs

This past Sunday our family decided to take advantage of the free afternoon we had after church, and headed out to the Katowba area to hike Tinker Cliffs. Dad thought it was going to be a four mile round trip hike, but it ended up being a eight mile round trip hike, and the whole way up was pretty steep! But I really enjoyed the hike, despite the fact that each person only brought a 16oz. water bottle with them, for a eight mile hike and it was hot and humid- though I must say, it could have been hotter! (Sorry for the run-on sentence;)
Of course, Elijah was not with us, he was in Texas;)
The view from the top was gorgeous and I can only imagine the view if I had hiked it when the colors of the leaves were changing!! But anyway, I will share some pictures with you guys:)

Just starting out:)

Resting a spell
The view from the top was gorgeous!

Someone thought they needed to be just a little closer to the sky;)

Found a struggling butterfly that I picked up and moved to a safe place
The solid rock cliffs

The refreshing creek at the very bottom of the mountain

Mom was so glad she made it up and all the way back! She was quite tired!
Splashing in the creek while waiting for mom and dad to catch up;)

So there are some pictures of our hike for you:) I hope you enjoyed them!
Now I'm off to see my brother who gets home from Texas today! Yay!
Until next time,
~ Elise

How quickly my focus shifts to others...(not what you may think)

While at work today, I was a little bored, and I wanted to read. I always bring my Bible in my bag I take to work, so I figured I would read that:) I decided to read the proverb of the day (proverbs 9). Proverbs 9 talks about wisdom and foolishness. It speaks of how you will only hurt yourself by rebuking a scoffer. But if you instruct a wise man, he will love you. As I thought about that- the thought came to mind that I knew a few people who should read that passage. But the Lord quickly showed me my own heart attitude. Woe is me that I should think that so quickly! How do I respond when others point out foolishness in my own life? Or do others not point it out because I have shown myself to be prideful and arrogant? Always thinking I am right... My first thought should not concern those who I think need it- but just focused one person, and that's me. None of us are as wise as we should or could be. We are all prideful at times, and that was a good reminder to me!  That was a hear...

He's Always On Time

Two months have come and gone and I'm working on the third. It's hard to believe my time here in Alabama is almost up...it's gone by faster than I thought it would.  God has taught me a lot during my stay here, but I've been so busy, I haven't had much time to sit down and write a blog post about it. While it would take too long to tell you about everything God has been teaching me, I'll share a recent lesson with you.  When others want to know what, where, when, how and why, it's not always easy to give an answer. I've been thinking a lot about what else God has for me to do. I was pretty anxious about it last week. It made for a restless few days and nights.  But later in the week, I was reading through some "old" journal entries, from earlier in my stay here in AL, and I had been praying for and encouraging some friends, to trust the Lord because we don't have to have the answers. If we had the answers we would not need to trust. As I wa...

December craziness:)

Well, folks, I don't know if anyone ever reads my blog, but if you do- I guess you have realized that I haven't blogged in a while:)  I don't have as much spare time as did at one time, but that doesn't mean I enjoy blogging any less. Life marches on and it seems the older you get, the faster it marches. {Do I have any Amens?} If you have an instagram account and follow me, you will probably know some of what has been keeping me busy, but for those of you who don't, I will give a little update:)  December was full of chicken processing, caroling, Christmas concerts for my sisters and I, prayer meeting, travels to DE and PA to visit family for Christmas, a Christmas party for the young people and adults at church, finishing my work with the contracting business, teaching piano as well as our annual Christmas service. We kicked off the New Year by having some friends over and making eight homemade pizzas, (yes, I was in charge of getting them all made, and I loved...
