Our trip to Florida

Note added August 30th-I am sorry if you have already seen this post- I was rereading it and found some typos, and after I fixed, accidentally reposted it again;)

So, we took a trip to Florida...and we have so many pictures, it is almost over whelming...
But I shall do my best to pick some good ones for y'all's benefit =)

Olivia and I with some of our purchases at the big flea market.

We were able to play one round of mini golf as a family!
eating ice cream and watching a storm move it over the water
me, holding a little crab- with a BIG pincher
Me, next to a huge tree in a big garden in FL

the gulf was so pretty!

Josh and I are counting the money we children saved over the past 5 months to play mini golf and get ice cream

We found a tortoise on a hiking trail and I got to hold him :)  I think we counted that he was  27 years old

Me and Olivia- enjoying the sun on the beach ( and Sophia in the backround ;p)

there were so many shells at that beach- beautiful!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures! We had so much fun!
We had a wonderful time in Florida.  We swam at the beach nearly everyday; since we don't have any nice places to swim around us here in Virginia.  We got to walk on the beach at night twice  during that week and found quite a few interesting things.  We hiked, visited some Florida gardens, swam at the beach, swam in the pool, and visited our favorite flea market, The Big Red Barn.
I thank the Lord that He blessed our time away from all of life's hub bub and enabled us to just relax.
We were able to stop and see some good friends in Georgia on the way back....but you will have to wait to hear about that ;)
Until next time,
       ~ Elise

December craziness:)

Well, folks, I don't know if anyone ever reads my blog, but if you do- I guess you have realized that I haven't blogged in a while:)  I don't have as much spare time as did at one time, but that doesn't mean I enjoy blogging any less. Life marches on and it seems the older you get, the faster it marches. {Do I have any Amens?} If you have an instagram account and follow me, you will probably know some of what has been keeping me busy, but for those of you who don't, I will give a little update:)  December was full of chicken processing, caroling, Christmas concerts for my sisters and I, prayer meeting, travels to DE and PA to visit family for Christmas, a Christmas party for the young people and adults at church, finishing my work with the contracting business, teaching piano as well as our annual Christmas service. We kicked off the New Year by having some friends over and making eight homemade pizzas, (yes, I was in charge of getting them all made, and I loved...

Passing unnoticed

Sometimes it seems like life moves very slowly, and other times it seems that it moves very quickly. It seems that the opposite of what I want, happens. If I wish for it to move slowly, it moves quickly, and if I wish it would move quickly, it moves slowly. Nevertheless, the past 5 months have come and gone like a flash. I can hardly believe January is almost over. I realize that there may be very few people who read my blog; perhaps a lot of that has to do with how infrequently I write. ;) But I was thinking about what I might blog about and looking through pictures... I guess it is really the little things that make up a beautiful life. It's the little things everyday that make fond memories. I tend to be so task oriented that I forget to stop and notice the dew drops on the flower, the frost patterns on the window, the unique sunrise... the smiles which are flashed at me every day. And then- suddenly these precious times are gone. It's a new stage of life, the things w...

Encouragement

I was reading through some quotes I had written down a while ago, and thought I would share them with you all so you can be encouraged as well:)  "If prayer is birthed out of desperation, than anything that makes me desperate for God is a blessing." ~ Nancy Leigh DeMoss "God is always doing 10,000 things in your life and you may be aware of three of them." - John Piper "You can never learn that Christ is all you need, until Christ is all you have." - Corrie Ten Boom "We make a god out of whatever we find most joy in. So find your joy in God and be done with idolatry." - John Piper  "The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. The first to forget is the happiest." - Elizabeth Elliot "The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of christian, but the fact that I am a christian, does make me a different kind of woman." - Elizabeth E...
